To renovate or tear down?
Reconfiguring an existing home is always more cost-efficient

Red Oak Renovations specializes in remarkable kitchens and bathrooms, as well as other renovations. We are located in Ayer, MAssachusetts, just minutes from Westford, Groton, Harvard, Carlisle, Lexington, Concord, Chelmsford, Acton, Dunstable, Littleton and Southern New Hampshire.
The master bedroom addition is on the left. Red Oak Renovations removed all of the aluminum siding and replaced it with Hardy Plank, which only needs painting every 15 years.
Red Oak Renovations refurnished every aspect of the screened in porch. There are new screens, a new composite deck outside, new wooden deck inside, new lights, and fresh paint.
The aluminum siding belies all of the work the house needed, inside and outside.

Reliable Bob and his wife Susan, undertook an extensive renovation in 2007-2008 of their pond-side cottage in Ayer, Mass. built in 1910.

The first decision was whether to tear it down or to renovate. "W
e calculated saving $100,000 by renovating, so Bob ordered a replacement door for the porch. That started us down the path of a whole house renovation," Susan said.

"Renovating gave us more bang for the buck. We maintained the cottage character and ended up with more space for less money than if we re-built," Susan said.

Nearly every room in the former cottage has been renovated, and often redesigned.

The country kitchen/family room is a highlight. The Red Oak crew tore out the walls, ceiling and a hidden second roof. Then they vaulted the ceiling and created a dramatic new space. Best of all, it was done with few delays.

"When the granite guy came to measure , I told him the Red Oak crew finally finished the job ," Susan said.
"How long has it been?" he said.
"Three months! Including tearing out the ceiling, relocating plumbing and new wiring."
"That's nothing. Usually, jobs like that take six to nine months," said the worker, who sees a lot of new kitchens.

Because the Red Oak crew is multi-talented, it minimizes the need for subcontractors. Customers appreciate the speed with which Red Oak finishes projects.
